Fragment of letter from my great-grandfather to the Governor,
“Although born in Jamaica, my relations were English, my father, member of the — of P. (Royal Collage of Physicians?) in London at an early period of his —- was stationed at Cape Coast (Castle) with the garrison (introduced vaccination) from thence he proceeded to this island & had the honor of attending professionally his Excellency Sir Ayer Coote. My father had a brother who was for many years, Rector of Annapolis.
Two of my maternal (relations?) - Manley and Chs. Cranston Dixon, the former of the 90th Regt. Canada have the rank of Liet Col. The latter —- Gov. of For Pitt, Chat: (having obtained ?) an appointment through the influence —- Lord Raglan.
I was bred a printer through the grades —- attorney when I left —-
