BRIER HILL'S OLDEST RESIDENT DIED WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday morning, February 23rd, occured the death of the oldest resident of our village, Mrs. Lucinda Palmer, age 94 years and 11 days. Her last sickness was of short duration. She celebrated her 94th birthday on February 12th and within a few days was stricken with pneumonia, which proved fatal. Mrs. Palmer was a resident of this village since 1860. Her husband was the late Dayton D. Palmer, who was an undertaker here for a number of years. She had lived with her only daughter, Mrs. Cora Ackerman, during the last years of her life. She leaves her daughter, Mrs, Ackerman; also, three sons, George of Gouverneur, Wilson of Ogdensburg, and Edward who is in the West. Another son, William, died a number of years ago. Mrs. Palmer was very active for one of her years. She was afflicted with deafness, which was a handicap while trying to converse with her friends. She was a member of the Lutheran church. The funeral was held at the Ackerman home Friday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. McLaughlin, pastor of Young Memorial church officiating Interment at Brier Hill.

BRIER HILL, Feb. 28, - Our community was grieved to hear of the death of Mrs. Lucinda Palmer, which occurred at her late home, Wednesday morning, Feb, 28, 1927 of bronchial pneumonia. Mrs. Palmer was born in Jefferson county, Feb. 12, 1833. Her maiden name was Lucinda Greene. In 1850 she was married to Dayton Palmer, coming to Brier Hill in 1860. Mr. Palmer served int he Civil war and his death occurred 33 years ago, Feb. 12, 1894, the date of Mrs. Palmer's birthday. Since his death Mrs. Cora Ackerman, the only daughter, has resided with her mother. To Mr. and Mrs. Palmer were born six children, five of whom are living, one having died in infancy. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Lutheran church in which she was an active member until her advancing age prevented her activities. She was a very quiet woman, devoted to her home and will be sadly missed. She was 94 years old Feb. 12, having been taken ill on her birthday and is the last of her family. She was always to be seen sitting on the veranda, when the weather permitted and always had a word of cheer and good will to the passers-by. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Ackerman, and four sons;: Wilson, of Ogdensburg; George and William of Gouverneur; Edward of Indiana: two grandchildren, Mrs. Evelyn McWilliams, daughter of Mrs. Ackerman, Brier Hill and Donald, son of William Palmer, Carthage; three great grandchildren ,Marguerite and William, children of Donald Palmer and Norma, daughter of Mrs. McWilliams. The funeral was held Friday, Feb. 25, from her late home. Rev. McLaughlin, pastor of the Young Memorial church officiating. Burial in Brier Hill cemetery. Mrs. Palmer had lived to the ripe old age and she was fully prepared and willing to meet her Maker. "They will be done." The sympathy of the community is with the sorrowing family.

BRIER HILL RESIDENT PASSES 93RD BIRTHDAY
Brier Hill, March 17, - Mrs. D.D. Palmer of this place quietly passed her 93rd birthday on Feb. 12 at her home. She is in good health considering her very advanced age. She has four children living and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. One son, Wilson H Palmer, lives in Ogdensburg and one, George A. Palmer, resides in Gouverneur and a son, Edward E. Palmer, is in the west; one daughter, Mrs. Cora Ackerman of Brier Hill, with whom she now makes her home. Her grandchildren are Mrs. Frank Landerman of Brier Hill, Mrs. Orlo McWilliams of Hammond and Donald William Palmer of Carthage and Dorothy G. Palmer, also of Carthage. Her great-grandchildren are the Misses Ione, Alta and Grace Landerman, daughters of Mr and Mrs. Frank Landerman of Brier Hill; also Miss Marguerite Ruth and Master Donald William Palmer, jr., the children of Mr. and Mrs. Donald William Palmer of Carthage. Mrs. D.D. Palmer is one of the most esteemed old ladies of Brier Hill in which vicinity she has always made her home. She is the widow of David D. Palmer, who was a veteran of the Union Forces during the Civil war, serving in the New York Heavy Artillery. Mrs. Palmer had one son who died. He was William Palmer of Gosverneur , who had served at the time of this death April 14, 1920, nineteen years as clerk in the Gosverneur postoffice, starting his term in July, 1901, under the postmastership of the late J.E. Abbott of Gosverneur and Syracuse.
