FORMER MIDDLEPORT WOMAN SUCCUMBS IN CONNECTICUT
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Thibault Funeral Home in Medina for Mrs Mary Dewhurst Simonds, who died Monday at New Canaan, Conn., at the age of 73. The Rev. Charles Wood, pastor of the Middleport Universalist Church, will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Mrs. Simonds had been ill for several months prior to her death. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Angelica Baker Van Brocklin of Middleport, where she lived most of her life. She married Dr. Almond Dewhurst of Middleport. Several years after the death of Dr. Dewhurst she married Dr. Grant W Simonds of Medina who died in December 1950. Since his death she made her home in Medina until this spring when she resided with her daughter. Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Kingsbury of New Canaan, Conn. Mrs. Simonds was an active member of the First Universalist Church, Middleport, serving several years as superintendent of the Sunday School. She was a member of the Rebekahs, Eastern Star. Butts-Clark Post American Legion Auxiliary, Lincoln-Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Bea Good Grandmothers Club, Daughters of 1812. Otetiani Chapter, N.s., D.A.C. and the Home Club. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kingsbury, one stepson, Euhla B. Simonds, of Lockport and three grandchildren. A son, Winthrop Dewhurst, died following World War II.
