    • William "Bill" Hart VAN HORN (1913-1996)

      VAN HORN, Bill, Tulsa native, died Tuesday. Born William Hart VAN HORN, February 10, 1913 at St. John's Hospital, he passed away February 13, 1996 at St. John's. He was the oldest of 7 children born to Vernon Hile VAN HORN and Janet Douglas HART. Graduated from Tulsa High 1931 and Tulsa University 1951. Bill worked for W. E. Brown/Southwest Co. for 11 years and Gerald Westby/Seismograph Service Co. for 35 years until retirement. He and his wife, Isabel WOODS, spent 56 years together until her death in 1991. Bill was very active in this community as a founder of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club, United Way Chairman, Junior Achievement and much more. His love and admiration for his family extended to long time friends. Snooker, classic cars and humor were all additional life time interests! He is survived by: children, David b Ralph VAN HORN, Pryor, OK and Carol Dressel VAN HORN, Estes Park, CO; a sister, Janet VH BROWN; a brother, V. H. Pete VAN HORN; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and newphews; special friend, Lucille; and others whose lives he has touched! A memorial service for Bill VAN HORN will be held Saturday, February 17 at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2929 E. 31st at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to John Knox Presbyterian Church to be designated by the family for Emergency infant Services and a special program for the elderly of this faith community.
