William P. Woods was born in Galesburg, Illinois April 30, 1850. At an early age he moved with his parents to College Springs, Page county, Illinois, lived there several years, then moved to Taylor county, Iowa. He was married to Mary I. Swalley at Joliet, Illinois February 19, 1880. Six children were born to this union, one having died in infancy. After their marriage, they lived in Taylor county seven years, when in 1887 they moved to Sheridan county, Kansas where they have since lived. He was converted at the age of 36 years and joined the M.E. church of which he remained a faithful member and lived an exemplary Christian life. He died on the evening of the 12th of May, 1903, being 53 years and 12 days old. His body was laid to rest in the Studley cemetery May 14th. He leaves a wife and five children. Rev. Mickey conducted the services preached from 2 Tim. 4, 7-8.
