  From "The Past and present of Warren County, Illinois" Seth WOODS, farmer and stock raiser, b Venango Co. Pa. April 11 1837 came to Pike Co., Ill May 1848 remained there until March 1851 then came here; has family four children, Herman B., Caleb J., Melvin T. and Robt R. has been married twice; first wife, mother of the children, was Miss Zilpah STEM, born Mercer Co., Pa., Oct 25 1845; m Sept 20 1865; she died Hutchinson, Kan. May 15 1875; he m again May 4 1876 to Lucy O. DAVIS, b Salem Mass, April 25 1842 has 86 acres, value $6,800. from "The Atkinson Graphic", 21 Jul 1905 (atkinsonne.advantage-preservation.com) Seth Woods, one of the early settlers of this city, died from blood poisoning caused by his stepping on a nail about a year ago. At that time, the wound healed, lately it began to bother him and he was forced to have a part of the foot amputated. For a time this gave him relief, but last Saturday he became unconscious and passed away Monday, July 17. The funeral services were conducted by his brother Masons at the residence, Tuesday and they laid him to rest in Woodlawn Cem. He was born in Venango, Pennsylvania, April 11, 1837, and moved to Illinois in childhood and to Atkinson in 1884.
