Notes - He inherited part of the homestead of his father, and some of the original place is now or lately was in possession of the family. He was a farmer in Beverly. He served as a juror in the witchcraft trials and was one of those who signed the acknowledgement of error in these cases where convictions had been had. stating that they were "sadly deluded and mistaken ; for which we are much disquieted and distressed in our minds and do therefore humbly beg forgiveness." He married (first) Lydia Woodbury; (second), 1690, Sarah Giddiugs, widow of John Giddings, of Gloucester.
