Death of Mrs. Newton Thomas
Mrs. Laura A. Thomas, wife of Newton Thomas, passed away at her home in the foothills east of town, on Monday June 2, 1919, after an illness of six months, during which she suffered greatly. Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of Mrs. Jennie E. Stephens and the late George Stephens. She was born in Minnesota, but came to California at a very early age. She was of a sweet disposition and much lived by her many friends. Her age was 31 years, 10 months and two days. Besides her husband, three children survive her: Evelyn, Elgin and Charlotte. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, Dr. W. B. Gillespie officiating. Mrs. A. Craver sang ?No Night There? accompanied by Mrs. Hazel Groesbeck on the organ and Miss Ethel on the violin. The interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery.
