Henry Faville united in marriage yesterday afternoon Miss Sophia Tomasek and Mr. Joseph Volz at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Tomasek, 427 South Eighth street. Only relatives and a few personal friends were present. The bride was attired in white and carried a bouquet of roses. Miss Minnie Volz, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid, and F. J. Fay of St. Paul acted as best man. The groom is the son of George Volz and is a carpenter and contractor. Mr. and Mrs. Volz departed at noon for the west, where they will spend their honeymoon.

  from "the San Diego Union", 26 Jan 1944 (genealogybank.com) Last rites for Joseph Walter Volz, 61, of 4192 Thirty-third st., who died Monday, will be conducted this afternoon at 3:30 in the Johnson-Saum mortuary, the Rev. Frank M. Lowe officiating. Burial will be at Glen Abbey. He was born in Minneapolis and came to San Diego 17 years ago. He was a member of Electricians union B 569. Mr Volz is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sophia Irene Volz; a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Hodding; his father, George S. Volz; four brothers, John, Edward, Arthur and Paul Volz, and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Ellis and Mrs. Florence Fay.
