Benjamin (Benjamin, David, Francis, Jacob, Isaac, John, John) was born in Boston, Mass., April 30, 1831. He married Josephine E. Welsh, of Philadelphia, Pa., Nov. 10, 1864. She was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth T. Welsh. She was born Feb. 19, 1843, and died Sept., 1877. He resides in New York, and is a member of the firm of Perkins and Welsh of Wall street. - from "The New York Times", 11 Oct 1904
Benjamin Perkins died yesterday at his residence, 47 East Sixtieth Street. He was born in Boston, Mass, April 30, 1831, and in 1864 married Josephine Evans Welsh, daughter of the late Samuel Welsh of Philadelphia. He became a partner in the firm of S. & W. Welsh, sugar growers, of that city, and in 1877 took charge of a branch house in New York. In 1884 the firm of Perkins & Welsh was formed, and continued until 1896. Mr. Perkins was for many years an active Director in the Continental National Bank of this city, and was elected its President in 1897, serving until its consolidation with the Hanover National Bank. He was also a Director of the Hanover National Bank, Manhattan Savings Institution, Iowa and Illinois Fuel Company, Manhattan Live Insurance Company, and for twenty-five years was a Director in the Home Fire Insurance Company. Mr. Perkins was a member of the Union, Metropolitan, and Century Clubs, and of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was a Trustee of the Samaritan Home for the Aged, and of the Deaf and Dumb Institution, and for many years, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the General Memorial Hospital. His first wife died in 1877, and in 1886 he married Mrs. Frances Jerome Hildt, who survives him, together with three of his children by his first wife - G. Lawrence Perkins, Russell Perkins, and Mrs. M. M. Kimball of Boston, Mass.
