In 1854 Emily [Baker] and Horace [Taylor] were blessed with another little girl, whom they named Ellen. In 1856 they had a baby boy. They named him George Baker after Emily's brother who had gone to the California gold rush and died of an illness he contracted there. - from "The Houston Weekly Telegraph", 19 Oct 1859
Just as we go to press, we are exceedingly pained to hear of the death of Mr. Geo. R. Baker, of yellow fever. He died at 1 p.m., today, and will be buried to morrow morning at 11 o'clock.
