Wreak Victim Rites Slated
PLAINVIEW (Special) - Mrs. Robin Baker, 75, died Tuesday in the Lubbock hospital of injuries she suffered in a car-train crash May 26 near Lockney. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the 9th and Columbia Streets Church of Christ here with Kline Nall of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Baker's death raises the South Plains traffic death toll to 46 this year as compared to 62 at his time in 1969. Mrs. Baker was alone when the mishap occurred where U.S. 70 crosses the railroad tracks about one half mile west of Lockney. Officials in Lockney said Mrs. Baker's auto plowed into the second car behind the engine of a Fort Worth and Denver Freight train. She was a native of Lockney. Survivors include two sons, G.R. Baker of Plainview and Dr. Charles A. Baker of Bethesda, Md.; a daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Willis of Grand Junction, Colo.; town brothers, Carl Smith of Canyon and Milton Smith of Mountain Air, N.M.; six sister, Mrs. Alma Holmes and Mrs Glenna Jackson, both of Floydada, Mrs. Laura Bedingfield adn Mrs. Maggie Tinnen, both of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Mrs. Fred Bradshaw of Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Alice Smith of Amarillo; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
