VETERAN PHARMACIST LEO VOLZ DIES
Leo P. Volz, 83, of Point Loma, the city's oldest practicing pharmacist, died Tuesday in a hospital. Mr. Volz had owned and operated Volz Pharmacy at Rosecrans Boulevard and Canon Street since 1935. He was born La Crosse, Wis., and had lived in the city since 1926. He was a graduate of Southern California Pharmacy College. He was a member of the county and state pharmaceutical associations and the National Association of Retail Druggists, and was a charter member oft he Point Loma Kiwanis Club. Mr Volz is survived by his wife, Hazel; son Don of San Diego; two sisters; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The rosary was recited and a requiem Mass was said yesterday at Holy Cross Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum. The family suggest contributions to the Children's Hospital and Health Center of San Diego or the Nazareth House at Mission San Diego de Alcala.
