Word was received yesterday in this city a few days ago of the death at Spokane, Wash, on Jun 10 of Edward Browne, a former resident of this city. The deceased was the brother of the late W.D. Browne, chief of police of San Jose from 1884 to 1886, and will be remembered by older residents of the valley. Mr. Browne was born and educated here, having attended Santa Clara college but left this valley many years ago to engage in mining in Idaho and later moved to Washington for the same purpose. He had not revisited this section in about 30 years. He leaves a widow, Bessue Browne, and two children Will D., and Denby Browne. He was an uncle of John F and Mrs. M.C. Garling, Elizabeth Matt, Paul, Isabelle and Margaret Arnerich of this city.
