  from "The San Jose Evening News", 14 Mar 1889 (Newsbank at Santa Clara library) T.W. RICHARDS Death of an Old Resident of San Jose This Morning T.W. Richards, died at his residence, 253 Vine street, in this city this morning at the age of 72 years. Mr. Richards came to California in 1854 from Pennsylvania. He remained in the mines for about 5 years and then returned home. In 1878 he came to San Jose, bringing his family, and has since resided in this city. Mr. Richards retired from active business life many years ago. He leaves a wife and seven grown children. The deceased was a native of Wales. He was highly respected by a large circle of friends who will deeply regret his death.
