William H Durkee, a single druggist residing in Grand Rapids, Kent, MI, born 18 Apr 1940 NY to Walter Durkee b. NY and Mary Wood v. NY, died on 25 Nov 1910 in Grand Rapids of chromic articular rheumatism. Burial on 26 Nov in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Informant Sal Davis of Grand Rapids.

DEATH OF WM. H. DURKEE
The remains of Wm. H. Durkee were brought to Paw Paw last Monday for burial. He was 72 years of age and had been in the soldier's home in Grand Rapids for some time. Chronic rhuematism was the came of death. Deceased was a brother of Walter Dunkee of this place and Miss Mary Durkee of St Clair. Interment look place in Prospect cemetery Tuesday morning, Rev. G. G. Stansell officiating. Mr. Durkee was a member of Co. "C," 3rd Mich. C. in the civil war commanded by Capt G.J. Hudson, later by Capt. O.W. Rowland. He enlisted at Paw Paw, Sept. 18. 1861, was appointed corporal and subsequently promoted to sergeant. He was taken prisoner at Corinth, Miss., Nov. 12, 1863 and released at Charleston, S C. Dec. 16, 1864. He was honorably discharged at Detroit, March 3, 1865, after three and one half years of service. The relatives desire to thank the friends who so kindly assisted at the obsequeis.
