Our esteemed friend and townsman, Hon. John W. LaBar, celebrated his seventy-ninth birthday yesterday, Sept, 5, at his residence just east of the city. There were present - Mr. John W. LaBar and family of Royalton, Mr. Harry Cudaback, wife and daughter of Porter, Mr. George Sprague, wife and daughter of Albion, Mr. C.W. LaBar and wife of Lockport, and Mrs. Ira Baker and son of Cambria. All of his family were represented expect Mrs. J.P. Robens and family of Fort Scott, Kansas, whose absence was regretted by all present. The event was on to be pleasantly remembered by all who partook of the festivities of the occasion, and forms a bright spot in the decline of a long and useful life.

Hon. John W. Labar of Chestnut Ridge, was 80 years of age yesterday. A pleasant family re-union celebrated the event at the homestead. Amoug those present were Mr. Labar's children, Mr. John W. Labar, Jr., Royalton; Mrs. Rubens, Kansas; Mrs Sprague, Albion; Mrs. Cuddeback, Youngstown their families; also invited friends. The occasion was a most joyous one and a proper tribute to the head of the family and a respected citizen.

Lockport, April 9 - Mrs. Emma La Barre Sprague, 77 years old, former Lockport resident, died on Wednesday at her home in Canandaigua. She left here twenty years ago.

Passed Away Suddenly at Canandaigua Home
Mrs. Emma L Barre Sprague, aged 77, a former resident of East avenue, this city died suddenly at her late residence at Canandaigua, Wednesday night last, from heart trouble. She left Lockport about 20 years ago, following the death of her husband, George Sprague, who also passed away suddenly. Mrs. Sprague is survived by two brothers Charles Wesley La Barre, of the Swift Road, town of Cambria, and John W La Barre, of the town of Royalton. Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased at Canandaigua this afternoon, and the body will be brought here tomorrow for burial at the Glenwood cemetery.
