  from Newspaper Obituary (findagrave.com) The death occurred recently at Petrolia of Eugene Murdoe Van Sickle, one of the most successful of the old time Canadian drillers, in his 75th year. Mr. Van Sickle was born at Yarmouth, Ont., November 18, 1847, and came to Petrolia 47 years ago. He spent six years in foreign drilling in Borneo and Australia, in addition to his work in Canadian fields. He was twice married. He leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters, besides one brother, James Van Sickle, of London, Ont., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Perkins, of Petrolia. Four children predeceased him, one son, John, being killed in action in France. The funeral took place in Wyoming cemetery, Rev. Father Campeau conducting the services
