EX-FIRE CHIEF DROPS DEAD AT S. GLENS FALLS
BERNARD PALMER STRICKEN IN HIS STORE - FUNERAL TOMORROW.
GLENS FALLS, June 2 - Bernard Palmer, 31, well known resident of South Glens Falls and former chief of the village fire department, dropped dead about 9:30 o'clock Saturday night in his cigar store in Main street, South Glens Falls. Nr. Palmer has complained of being ill for some time, saying that he suffered from stomach trouble. Mr. Palmer, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Palmer, who survive, was a popular member of the Glen Hose company, holding the post of second assistant chief at the time of his death. In 1926 Mr. Palmer was elected chief of the village department. Beside his parents, Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Palmer, four daughters, Gladys, Frances, Iva Jane and Ruth Marie; and one son, Clement. One sister, Miss Marguerite Palmer, also survives. Members of the hose company will conduct rutuals at the home at 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at the late home, 43 Hudson street, by the Rev. J.J. Prudon, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. Burial will be in Southside cemetery.
