Our esteemed friend and townsman, Hon. John W. LaBar, celebrated his seventy-ninth birthday yesterday, Sept, 5, at his residence just east of the city. There were present - Mr. John W. LaBar and family of Royalton, Mr. Harry Cudaback, wife and daughter of Porter, Mr. George Sprague, wife and daughter of Albion, Mr. C.W. LaBar and wife of Lockport, and Mrs. Ira Baker and son of Cambria. All of his family were represented expect Mrs. J.P. Robens and family of Fort Scott, Kansas, whose absence was regretted by all present. The event was on to be pleasantly remembered by all who partook of the festivities of the occasion, and forms a bright spot in the decline of a long and useful life.
