| 7451 | Walter E. Grimm, 70, a resident of Greenville for the past 41 years, died at his home in 2 Union Street at 6 0'clock this morning, Oct. 31, 1947, after having been in ill health during the past year. A son of Martin and Nettie Woods Grimm, he was born Feb. 9, 1877, at Fredonia. On Sept. 27, 1900, he married Miss Bess Longstreet, who survives. Mr. Grimm was employed by the N.W. Moyer Motor Company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Deloss M. Grimm, at home; three sisters, Miss Della Grimm adn Mrs. Olive Davidson, both of New Castle, and Mrs. Mildred McDowell, of Mercer; also several nieces adn nephews. A brother Harry Grimm , of Sharon, preceded him in death. Mr Grimm was removed to the the Loutzenhiser funeral home where services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. Marshall D. | 7456 | Wiley Employes Honor Form Founder, Retiring Rribute to the friendley, considerate leadershipe of Wallace K. Wiley as vice-president, superintendent and co-founder of R&W Wiley, Inc., 129 Dearborn St., was paid last night at a testimonial dinner given by employes and co-workers on the occasion of his retirement. He is 72. Factory employes presented him with a set of traveling bags at the farewell dinner at Hotel Markeen. Manufacturing agents, who came from as far as Richmond, Va., give him a pipe set. Wiley, who will continue as a director, and his brother, Roy R. Wiley, founded the corporation, manufacturers of fluorescent lighting fixtures, in 1936. Roy Wiley died last November. The brothers previously had been partners in the old Flexlume Sign Co. Declaring that he considered the honor paid him as both for his brother and himself, the white-haired manufacturer said he and his brother always were thankful they could "create employment for a fine bunch of fellows." Mr. and Mrs. Wiley will leave next week for California to visit their daughter, Alice, wife of movie star Wendell Corey, and their son, J. Born William Hart VAN HORN, February 10, 1913 at St. John's Hospital, he passed away February 13, 1996 at St. John's. He was the oldest of 7 children born to Vernon Hile VAN HORN and Janet Douglas HART. Graduated from Tulsa High 1931 and Tulsa University 1951. Bill worked for W. E. Brown/Southwest Co. for 11 years and Gerald Westby/Seismograph Service Co. for 35 years until retirement. He and his wife, Isabel WOODS, spent 56 years together until her death in 1991. Bill was very active in this community as a founder of John Knox Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club, United Way Chairman, Junior Achievement and much more. His love and admiration for his family extended to long time friends. Snooker, classic cars and humor were all additional life time interests! He is survived by: children, David b Ralph VAN HORN, Pryor, OK and Carol Dressel VAN HORN, Estes Park, CO; a sister, Janet VH BROWN; a brother, V. H. Pete VAN HORN; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and newphews; special friend, Lucille; and others whose lives he has touched! Poler, a native of Saratoga Co., N. Y.; after their marriage, they resided in Merton until 1870, when they removed to the village of Hartland, and he engaged in the mercantile business, which he has since continued with flattering success; he carries a full line of general merchandise, has a large trade, and is a thorough, go-a-head business man; he owns 260 acres of land in the vicinity of Hartland, which he oversees personally; they have one son, John, who is engaged in the store. | 7470 | William Warren Baker, 98, Lake Park, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, in Sunnyside Nursing Home, Lake Park. Mr. Baker was born Jan. 24, 1905, near Decorah, Iowa. In 1910 the family moved to Ogema, Minn. He graduated from Holmes High School in Detroit Lakes, Minn. He attended Upper Iowa University, Fayette, and later attended an agricultural college in St. Paul. He then began farming. He married Adeline Simon in 1934, and she died three years later. He married Mildred Irwin in 1939. She died in 1950. In 1951 he married Florence Gudvangen. Luce Black, 91, of the Terrace Apartments in Randolph, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thurs-day, Jan. 21, 2010, in the home of her daughter on Hunt Road, in Jamestown, under the care of hospice. She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Corydon, Pa., the daughter of the late Clarence "Red" and Ethel Hollister Luce. She was a graduate of Randolph Central School and was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family and was a seam-stress. She was a member of the Randolph Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6533 Auxiliary and the Randolph American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary. She is survived by a son, Frank Black and his wife, Janet of Frewsburg; and a daughter, Saundra Greenlee and her late husband, Richard of Jamestown; three grandchildren: Dawn Godan of Portland, Maine, John Strandburg of Waterboro, Maine and Matthew Black of Frewsburg; seven great-grandchildren: Joe Nelson Black, Emily Gagne, Kaylee and Scott Goad, Danielle, David and John Strandburg; a brother, Paul Luce of Steamburg; and four sisters: Margaret Swift and Dona Miller, both of Hamburg, Audrey Brosius and Carol Bentley of Randolph. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Black, whom she married on June 1, 1939, in Smethport, Pa., and who preceded her on June 17, 1982; three brothers: Jack, Joel and Clyde Luce. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the VanRensselaer and Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, from where family and friends may call on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. The Rev. Mrs. Bean died as a result of a stroke at the home of her son, John Bean, in Cleveland. She was a daughter of John and Sarah Perkins and was born in Greenville. Mrs. Bean, who was preceded in death by her husband, was a member of the Youngstown United Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, Nevin of Youngstown and John of Cleveland; two brothers, Frank Perkins of Greenville and John Perkins of Youngstown; a sister, Mary Perkins of Cleveland, and five grandchildren.
